The Senate Finance Committee will vote Tuesday on the $9.2 billion budget for the fiscal year starting July first.
The House approved the spending plan on a 64-to-11 party line vote last Thursday.
If approved by the Senate Finance Committee, the budget will move to the Senate floor Wednesday, or Thursday.
The Senate usually passes the spending plan with little discussion or debate.
The budget includes the first step to phase out the car tax. It also has money for a scaled-back version of Gov. Gina Raimondo’s free college tuition plan.
